CEREC® Same-Day Veneers, Crowns, and Bridges
Single-visit crowns, veneers, and bridges are possible with CEREC®, a computer-assisted restoration procedure, and a recent innovation available in our office.
Getting a crown, for example, used to require at least two dental appointments. During the first visit, the dentist prepares the tooth for the restoration, takes an impression to be sent to the lab, and makes a temporary restoration to protect the tooth until the second appointment. During the second visit, the temporary piece is replaced by a permanent crown made by the lab.
With CEREC, the crown is designed with the aid of a digital 3D camera and milled—while you wait—using an in-office milling machine. CEREC restorations are milled out of pure ceramic, to fit each tooth precisely. This in-office making process allows for a one-time visit for this procedure; there is no longer a need for temporary restorations and impressions to be sent to a lab.
